    Frequently Asked Questions

How to care for leather goods.

Use mink oil maintain leather goods and to benefit from its leather conditioning properties and added water resistance. Dab a small amount and evenly spread mink oil onto the surface of the leather let sit for 5 seconds and buff the leather surface with a soft cloth. Mink oil may darken leather.

How Long are the halter nosebands?

The horse halter nosebands are 10 inches in the middle (average fit) and add 2 inches at each end to the strap that wraps around the halter hardware to attach the noseband.

    How to attach halter noseband?

Attach the halter noseband by removing the concho screw, pull one end strap through halter fitting hardware, reinstall concho screw. TIP: Dab some elmers white glue into the concho threads before installing the concho screw for a more secure installation.

    Is leather water-proof?

No, but some is water-resistant. The buffalo hide I use is hot stuffed during the vegetable tanning process, which gives water buffalo its great water-resistant properties. I intentionally use the water-resistant buffalo tannage on items like "The Duck Dog" collar that may come in contact with moisture during long days of duck hunting. Add mink oil to add even more water protection to leather goods but be aware mink oil may darken leather some. Make sure you pat dry and lay out to dry, out of direct sunlight after coming in contact with excessive water. Leather may become stiff after exposed to excessive water and not dried and cared for properly.
